Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner wows Manchester

Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner will be addressing the EUPJ Biellial Conference in Amsterdam next month, & we hereby present a sample of what at-tendees may expect.
Three days into her new job as the new Reform Movement Rabbi, Laura Janner-Klausner’s first com-munity visit was to Manchester and its three Reform Synagogues.
On Erev Shabbat at Sha’arei Shalom synagogue in North she explained that her main priority was to help each Reform community in the UK to achieve their full potential. She clearly expressed the Jewish dogma that it is the duty of each Jew to contribute to society and that it should not be left to figureheads. Shabbat morning at Manchester Reform she ad-dressed the congregation on the twelve attributes and blessings bestowed on the sons of Jacob. Members of Menorah Synagogue (Cheshire Reform) had their opportunity to hear her words of wisdom on Shabbat afternoon when she led the afternoon Study Circle on the Mitzvot of Shabbat and Reform decision making.
On Sunday, eighty participants from around the North West were treated to her insights at a Leo Baeck Seminar on ‘Nurturing Spirituality in Your Com-munity’ held at Menorah synagogue. That afternoon, she joined the Northern Network meeting of Chairs of Reform Congregations in the North of England. Rabbi Laura showed no signs of flagging as she returned to London after her Manchester marathon.
“Dynamic, irrepressible, accessible and brilliant,” declared one captivated observer!
