Q2 How do I book the hotel?

Please complete the Hotel Reservations Form and return to the hotel at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .The hotel will send a confirmation regarding your booking, based upon availability.

MAKE YOUR HOTEL BOOKING BEFORE 10 FEBRUARY 2012 IN ORDER TO MAKE USE OF THE SPECIAL RATE AFTER THAT DATE AVAILABILITY MAY BECOME LIMITED AND THE ROOM RATE WILL INCREASE IN PRICE.

Special room rates per room per night (not included in registration fee).

  • €84.00 including VAT and 5% city taxes for single, double or twin room
  • €21.00 including VAT and 5% city taxes supplement for the third person
  • €52.50  including VAT and 5% city taxes supplement for Executive Deluxe rooms

Q3 Is breakfast included in the Price?

Breakfast is not included in the price at the hotel. The following options are available during the conference:

  • extensive buffet in the hotel €22 per person
  • small breakfast in the hotel approximately €10 per person.
  • simple breakfast in the synagogue € 7.50 (prepaid with registration)

Q4 Are there any other accommodation options for Young Adults?

Q6 How do I register for EUPJ’s Biennial Conference 2012?

You may register for the conference by completing the Conference Registration Form, which should be returned to Deborah Grabiner, Administrator EUPJ, by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or by post to The Sternberg Centre, 80 East End Road, London N3 2SY. You may also fax your registration to +44 (0) 208 349 5699.

Q7 How much is the registration fee and what does it include?

The registration costs include the full programme, excluding travel, hotel accommodation, breakfast, post conference tour and travel insurance.

  • € 255 per person if booked by 10 February 2012 (Early Bird)
  • € 280 per person if booked after 10 February 2012

A limited number of student rabbis and young adults aged up to 30 years can apply for special fees. For details see Question 10 below.

Q8 How do I pay for the registration fees?

To pay your registration fee:

This will open a secure website requesting the following details:

  2. “From (Email address or mobile phone number)” - Please enter your email address as indicated on the registration form
  3. “Amount” - Please enter the correct amount and choose “EUR – Euros” as the currency
  4. Please select “Personal” then “other” (Please do not select “Purchase” since it will incur unnecessary charges)

Click the button “continue”.

If you do not have a PayPal account:

Complete the payment information as detailed. Click the button “Agree and create account” (do not tick the box above the button unless you want to receive promotional material from PayPal). Please confirm and complete the payment by clicking the button “Send Money”.***

If you do have a PayPal account:

Login in to your Paypal account. Click the button “Send Money” to send the funds using your PayPal standard payment method or change the payment method and then confirm and complete the payment by clicking the button “Send Money”.

***If you do not want to keep your PayPal account you can close it again immediately by following the instructions given in Question 9 below.

For payments from within European countries that operate within the EURO currency please refer to the instructions given in Question 18 below.

For payments within the Netherlands to the EUPJ Account please refer to the instructions given in Question 19 below.

Q9 What do I do, if I don't want to keep my PayPal account?

If you do not want to keep your paypal account you can close it again immediately by following these simple steps:

  1. Go to www.paypal.co.uk
  2. Login using your email address and the password that you chose.
  3. Complete additional security questions.
  4. In the top menu bar, click on Profile -> My account
  5. On the very right of the first line (Account type) click “close account”
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Q10 How can I apply for a Student Rabbi or Young Adult (aged 18 to 30) Special Fee?

There will be interesting workshops and social activities for young adult delegates.

Student Rabbis and delegates who are under the age of 30, who are recommended to EUPJby their communities, may request a reduced registration fee of €100 per person (limitedavailability) by enclosing a letter of recommendation signed by the rabbi or chairman of their congregation. When you obtain a nomination from your local synagogue/organisation Young Adults who may wish to obtain further subsidies should do so from their local synagogue/sponsor directly.

Q11 How do I travel to the conference?

Delegates are asked to make their own arrangements. Many airlines have several daily flights to Amsterdam Schiphol airport.

On arrival at Schiphol, you can take a short train ride to RAI train station (www.ns.nl/en ) which is just a short walk to the Novotel Hotel and Synagogue of the Progressive Jewish Congregation of Amsterdam where the conference, including registration will take place. Delegates arriving by train should connect with trains to RAI station.

Q14 Will there be a Post Conference Tour in the Netherlands?

On Sunday afternoon, Monday and Tuesday optional tours to Jewish and special Dutch sites of interest will be organized. Delegates who select the tour may extend their Novotel Hotel booking at the same rate (a limited number of rooms are available).  The cost of the complete tour (which does not include meals and hotel accommodation) will be €177 per person which can be paid at the desk of the tour operator, (www.easyrider-excursions.nl ) when registering for the conference in Amsterdam. It will be possible to book individual days. (Half Day Sunday at a cost of €39 pp; Monday at €79 pp including all entrance fees, guide and boat ride; or Tuesday at €59 pp excluding entrance fees to museums in The Hague).

The Post Conference Tour consists of:

  • Sunday 18th March 2012

The Fishermen’s Villages, Monnikendam, Edam and Volendam, with a visit to a cheese farm and the hidden corners of Dutch Jewish History.

  • Monday 19th March 2012

Westerbork, the Nazi Detention Centre with a guided tour of the camp grounds (movie and guide in English).
After lunch to Giethoorn, Venice of the North, for tour and boat ride through the canals of this picturesque village.

  • Tuesday 20th March 2012

The tour brings you to Delft, the Delft Pottery Factory and walking tour of the town. After lunch to The Hague with a visit to the Liberal Synagogue of The Hague, the courtyard of the House of Parliament and International Court.

Q15 Is there anything else I should know?

 Yes,

  • delegates are responsible for arranging their own travel arrangements and insurance
  • Applying for their hotel accommodation using the hotel’s booking form
  • Meals are vegetariam or fish.
